LATHANZIA is a one man project created by multi-instrumentalist Eric Young. Drawing on a wide and varied musical background ranging from choral accompaniment to performing as a guitarist and keyboard player in cover bands helped to enable bringing these songs to life. Being trained classically with the Royal Conservatory of Music (Toronto) and with private teachers coupled with a vivid imagination has led to the creation of long ranging story arcs that the music of LATHANZIA explores.

The LATHANZIA Saga is a trilogy of concept albums that feature a sweeping story arc. The first album "Rock, Paper, Tree" introduces some of the main characters. The story starts with Jack Ripley experiencing waking dreams/ visions that seem to be trying to tell him something. Deciding to explore this starts a sweeping saga and journey of self-awareness. As the story unfolds through a series of songs that act as chapters, Jack comes to understand what is happening and why.

Combining reincarnation with past life memories, “Rock, Paper, Tree” sets the stage for the next “book”, “Lost and Found”

The second album, "Lost and Found" introduces more characters and takes a deep dive into Jacks' life. This album resonates with anyone who has felt they don't quite belong. The central theme is a "coming of age" story of Witchcraft.

The eponymous third album tells the story of Lathanzia, building on the first two albums. An "alternate history" starting in pre-Roman Breton and moving eventually to present day, involving Neo Paganism and many other influences.

What would you tell your future self?

Currently working on a live show. A bit challenging for a solo artist but I love challenges. While there are several versions involving both backing tracks cut from the original recordings as well as acoustic versions, all center on the story telling aspect.
