The sand flows through the hourglass of time
But the grains don’t belong all to me
A solitary man, some said that was my crime
How could this all happen to me?

Awaking in a dream and standing by the fire
Once more never alone
With my Dear Lady and all our desire
Keeps my heart from turning to stone

Long have I walked on the path of this life
And long still yet to go
But feeling the lasting love from my wife
Melts away the winters snow

The sand that flows will mix once again
When the hourglass takes its turn
But the sand is me, you, and so many more

We share this life by choice and chance
All happens in its own way

Like the sun rises every day

A long dark night is the blink of an eye
Once our hearts are opened wide
Looking back and forth as time goes by
Over these sands far and wide

So now let us see who we’ll meet in the night
And feel the strength in each day
Who we were before, we’ll probably be again
With others to help us on the way




So many lives cross on the sands of this shore
The tide washes clean each day
All we can do is revel in the light
And try to find our own true way

We march down the beach with others at our side
Treading softly on the sands of time
A path so narrow or a road so wide
Feeling love and life sublime

Once we lived alone in a clan
And feared the others deep inside
Our clan was our home, each woman and man
Formed our tribe and felt its pride

Now we live as one lost at sea
But form our clans anyway
Not by blood but by choice, you see
We find the ones we need on the way

They need us in this circle of sand
As we march along in this dance
Our tribe marches with us and us with them
Lives, friends, and true romance

So we cross the sand if we know it or not
Never alone or really lost our way
A dream inside a dream is a door we sought
Fire into flames each day
